چکیده

This paper presents and compares two different strategies for LDPC coded MC-CDMA system design. In general, Turbo multiuser detection is exploited by combining per-user MMSE-PIC detection and LDPC decoder together at the receiver end. First alternative, proposed earlier by the authors, is to apply the code across the substreams and transmit the coded data using MC-CDMA. The other approach, in turn, is based on applying the code(s) within each substream and form a MC-CDMA transmission symbol of these separately coded streams. The analysis shows some fundamental differences in the two alternatives, with the conclusion that the second system scenario has relatively better performance. This is confirmed using computer simulations in downlink channels. Furthermore, it is also shown that the second system scenario is easily applicable in the uplink case as well, and that in general relatively small spreading factors per MCCDMA multiplex can be utilized to maintain reasonable detection and receiver complexity as a whole. Index Terms – channel coding, code division multiple access, iterative decoding, multicarrier modulation, multiuser detection

Burst-by-burst Adaptive Joint-Detection CDMA/H.26L Based Wireless Video Telephony using TTCM and LDPC Codes

A low bit-rate video coding techniques using the H.26L standard codec for robust transmission in mobile multimedia environments are presented. For the sake of achieving error resilience, the source codec has to make provisions for error detection, resynchronization and error concealment. Thus a packetization technique invoking adaptive bit-rate control was used in conjuction with the various mo...

Pilot-Assisted Adaptive Channel Estimation for Coded MC-CDMA with ICI Cancellation

One of the promising wireless access techniques for the next generation mobile communications systems is multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA). MC-CDMA can provide good transmission performance owing to the frequency diversity effect in a severe frequency-selective fading channel. However, the bit error rate (BER) performance of coded MC-CDMA is inferior to that of orthogonal fr...

LDPC Coding for Performance Enhancement of MC-CDMA System

A turbo block code (TBC) technique for improving the performance of a multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) system in terms of bit error rate (BER) is proposed in this paper. The objective of this work is to develop a coding scheme that generates low BER code-words. By implementing a time domain TBC, designed using powerful low density parity check (LDPC) code, the BER performan...
